News Filter: There Really Is A Borderlands 2

  • After a long week of rumors, Gearbox has finally announced that Borderlands 2 is in developement. Scheduled for release in Take Two's 2013 fiscal year (starting April 2012), it is still a way off. But at least we have something to look forward to.

  • Borderlands had been a huge surprise to me. I have mentioned more than once that I've purchased both the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game, including all of the DLC. When I blew out the graphic card on my PC, I started over playing on the console. It's slick mixture of Diablo loot and quest with a tongue in cheek shooter made me a lot happier with the game than I expected. So I am eagerly looking forward to the new game.

  • In the meantime, I really need to go back and finish off that DLC.

  • There is more information to come in Game Informer. You can see the magazine cover image here.

  1. I need to finish the download packs as well. I'm only about half way through the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, and have yet to even purchase the rest of the packs. I am really looking forward to hearing more about Borderlands II, Borderlands is practically the only console game I still play.

The graphics are really impressive to me, and the Diablo meets Halo gameplay is a heck of a lot of fun. If I have any criticism of it, it's that the characters don't feel distinct enough from each other. Until you are pretty high into their skill trees, they play a lot alike. Swapping guns makes a lot more of a difference than changing characters. Still, it's easilly one of my favorite 360 games.

  2. Woohoo! Borderlands rocks! In the summer Steam sale, I bought the four pack and three friends and I have been going at it hardcore. The game gets significantly ore fun with more people, as the game throws that much more at you.

With 3 million+ units sold for the first game, I would have been surprised if there had NOT been a Borderlands 2!

  4. @ Yeebo - Right there with you. Zombie Island was really good. And it was a great change of pace and tone from the main campaign.

@ Bronte - That sounds awesome. I haven't tried the co-op myself, but I know others had a blast with it.
